Let&#8217;s just stay here. Yup-yup-YUPYUP! There are plenty.&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Stephen Covey, author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, an abundance mentality starts with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A sense of personal worth and security, that you deserve good in this life and<\/li><li>A belief that the possibilities are endless, that there is enough to go around.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Framing all this in terms of <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/how-to-network-into-executive-job\/\">executive job<\/a> search, being in explore mode opens you to learn about ways to land a job that you didn&#8217;t know or never tried.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Does Your Job Search Include Networking into the Goldmine of Hidden Jobs?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" data-src=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/wlan-2088659_640.jpg\" alt=\"hidden job market\" class=\"wp-image-14352 lazyload\" width=\"838\" height=\"415\"\/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/wlan-2088659_640.jpg\" alt=\"hidden job market\" class=\"wp-image-14352 lazyload\" width=\"838\" height=\"415\" srcset=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/wlan-2088659_640.jpg 640w, https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/wlan-2088659_640-300x149.jpg 300w, https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/wlan-2088659_640-150x74.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 838px) 100vw, 838px\" \/><\/noscript><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I write a lot about tapping into the hidden job market which, according to Executive Talent Agent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pulse\/4-secret-entrances-hidden-job-market-discover-new-jobs-debra-feldman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Debra Feldman<\/a>, includes these 4 scenarios: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. The budget for a position has been allocated . . .<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>But for a variety of reasons (timing, prioritization, inconvenience, internal communications, etc.,) the announcement has not been distributed. You have to know someone who is aware of this situation in order to access this unadvertised job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. A position where the incumbent has plans to leave, (a promotion, relocation, personal leave, etc.) . . .<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>But until their replacement is found, that person\/that role is not going to be released. In such instances, there is never a vacancy. The position passes from the incumbent to their successor without any gap in coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. A position known only to the hiring decision maker and their trusted inner circle<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s a position that will be created when the team is reorganized or a merger or acquisition or other stealth process is completed. It\u2019s a matter of when not if new talent is going to be brought in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4. The most prized of the hidden executive jobs<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A position created for a specific individual that did not exist until an individual was available. Job responsibilities may be shifted to accommodate a new team member or a new role created designed to maximize an individual\u2019s skills and abilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Feldman notes, the only way to <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/best-ways-to-answer-what-is-your-greatest-weakness-in-a-job-interview\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"848\">land one of these jobs<\/a> is by networking your way in through a recommendation and becoming known, liked and trusted by hiring authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s my advice to you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>Stop spending so much time on <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/use-job-boards-for-research-not-to-find-jobs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the job boards<\/a> and go strong on networking. <\/em><\/p><p><em>The kinds of jobs you really want may never be posted anywhere. They may only exist in the hidden job market, which is only accessed through focused networking.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How do you find out about <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/how-do-i-find-a-job-in-the-hidden-job-market\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hidden executive jobs<\/a>? <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" data-src=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Dream-job.jpg\" alt=\"find your dream job\" class=\"wp-image-12341 lazyload\" width=\"837\" height=\"557\"\/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Dream-job.jpg\" alt=\"find your dream job\" class=\"wp-image-12341 lazyload\" width=\"837\" height=\"557\" srcset=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Dream-job.jpg 640w, https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Dream-job-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Dream-job-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Dream-job-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 837px) 100vw, 837px\" \/><\/noscript><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Start with a good list of companies, say 15-20, that are a mutual good-fit. Then position yourself as a good fit for them in your personal marketing materials (resume, bio, LinkedIn profile, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And then you\u2019ll network your way towards hiring decision makers at each one, so that you can circumvent the gatekeepers (Human Resources) and, hopefully, <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/executive-resume-ats-applicant-tracking-systems-need-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Applicant Tracking Systems<\/a> (ATS). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A key piece of information many executive job seekers don\u2019t know or forget about . . .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Getting <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/networking-to-referral-to-hire-best-way-to-land-executive-job\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">referrals from employees<\/a>, or even one employee (at pretty much any professional level), at your target companies gets you an \u201cin\u201d at that company. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Employees usually know about openings at their companies that may never be advertised.<\/li><li>Employers like to hire people they know.
