You\u2019re being tapped or tossed aside\u00a0based on what these people find (or don\u2019t find) about you online.<\/p>\n<p>All other things being equal with your competitors, having the strongest online footprint can tip the scales in your favor. People assessing candidates like you gravitate toward those who stand out the most online. Publishing<\/h3>\n<p>Provide evidence of your subject matter expertise and thought leadership through:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your own blog<\/li>\n<li>Guest blogging on relevant sites<\/li>\n<li>Publishing white papers on relevant sites<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>2. Posting<\/h3>\n<p>Let people know you\u2019re staying current with the works of industry thought leaders and subject matter experts by posting book reviews at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and other online booksellers.<\/p>\n<h3>3. Pontificating<\/h3>\n<p>Express your opinions on relevant topics and add value through:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Blog comments on top sites<\/li>\n<li>Twitter, Facebook, and other social networks<\/li>\n<li>E-lists, online forums, message boards<\/li>\n<li>Contributing to discussions on LinkedIn Groups and LinkedIn Answers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>4. Partnering<\/h3>\n<p>Leverage social media \u2013 blogging, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Ecademy, etc. \u2013 to promote your network so they\u2019ll reciprocate:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bring them into your social networks<\/li>\n<li>Retweet them and tweet their blog posts<\/li>\n<li>Comment and\/or guest blog on their blogs<\/li>\n<li>Mention them in your blog posts<\/li>\n<li>Influence them to write about you<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>6.
