{"id":2258,"date":"2011-01-24T07:55:57","date_gmt":"2011-01-24T11:55:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/?p=2258"},"modified":"2025-09-16T05:20:23","modified_gmt":"2025-09-16T09:20:23","slug":"im-writing-an-ebook-on-executive-branding-and-job-search","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/im-writing-an-ebook-on-executive-branding-and-job-search\/","title":{"rendered":"I&#8217;m Writing an eBook on Executive Branding and Job Search"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over a year ago I decided to write an ebook to\u00a0guide executives through defining their brand and navigating today\u2019s job search.<\/p>\n<p>After all, I\u2019d been blogging and writing articles about this for several years. I had lots of good content to work from. Most of the work was done, right? I figured it wouldn\u2019t take very much time. Just piece it all together, make adjustments to keep it flowing and then figure out how to package, market and sell it.<\/p>\n<p>So, back then, I wrote a basic outline and came up a boring title, something like \u2013 &#8220;Executive Branding and Your Job Search&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>I knew I had to cover the following areas and detail the strategies involved with each:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Job Search Targeting<\/li>\n<li>Personal Branding<\/li>\n<li>Resumes and Other Career Marketing Documents<\/li>\n<li>Online Identity<\/li>\n<li>Social Networking and Social Media<\/li>\n<li>Networking<\/li>\n<li>Interviewing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That took me about 10 minutes. And there it sat for almost a year. I\u2019d go back to my outline from time to time, but did nothing with it. I wasn\u2019t excited about working on it. Probably because my approach wasn\u2019t inciting me to move forward. It was too much like so many other how-to job search books.<\/p>\n<p>Then, last December, I had a breakthrough that instantly revved me up. Why not work from the questions <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/executive-interview-what-questions-do-you-ask\/\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"567\">executive job seekers ask<\/a> me every day that point to their utter confusion about how to find a job? The wrong thinking that keeps them from landing the jobs they deserved.<\/p>\n<p>Suddenly it all made sense! What I had to do in my ebook was address their sabotaging ways and, step by step, walk them through shifting their mindset and mastering the new world of search.<\/p>\n<p><em>The new working title and sub-titles are:<\/em><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>23 Ways You Sabotage Your Executive Job Search<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>. . . and How Your Brand\u00a0Will Help You Land<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A practical guide to executive branding, marketing your ROI value and navigating the new world of job search<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s where I\u2019m at now. The table of contents is done and all the content is together, within each chapter. I&#8217;m\u00a0still covering all those critical topics,\u00a0plus some others. I\u2019m working on editing, updating it and adding new thoughts, information and resources. While editing, I\u2019m enjoying the process of making a cohesive and, hopefully engaging, flow of information.<\/p>\n<p><em>And here are some of the chapter titles:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;I spend 6 hours a day on the job boards. I\u2019ve sent out hundreds of resumes! How come nothing\u2019s happening?&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;I keep hearing about the \u2018hidden job market\u2019. What is it and how do I find it?&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;I think personal branding is a crock. I\u2019m not a brand. I\u2019m a person!!!&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;My resume stinks. It doesn\u2019t give a good impression of me. I\u2019m getting negative feedback.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Self-Google? I\u2019m not THAT vain!&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;How will recruiters and my target employers find me on LinkedIn?&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Initially, I plan to only offer this as an ebook. The content includes quite a few hyperlinks to various critical resources.
