Thousands of surveys and studies on best executive job search strategies reveal that by far, networking <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/reasons-why-you-didnt-get-the-job-and-how-to-fix-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gets the job<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;ve been smart, you&#8217;ve kept up with your network even while you weren&#8217;t actively job hunting. You&#8217;ve kept them primed and ready to help you. They are your career insurance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;ve neglected your network because you were securely employed and didn&#8217;t think you needed them, you&#8217;ve got a lot of catching up to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The digital age offers more ways to network than before<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The ways to network have expanded in recent years. Social media makes it possible to get closer quicker to key decision makers at companies you\u2019re targeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The key to networking in the new world of <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/the-online-safety-and-privacy-dilemma-in-executive-job-search\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">executive job search is to balance online<\/a> and real-life efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to networking events<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/job-search-clubs-how-they-work-how-to-find-one\/\">job search<\/a> support group meetings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Get active with relevant professional associations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find other ways and places to network in person <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>But also learn how to use all that LinkedIn and other social networks have to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t take on so much social media responsibility that you do none of it well, or you neglect real-life networking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Understand that you may initially connect with someone through social media, or people sourcing candidates may be introduced to you through your online identity and Google search results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But in all likelihood, it will be the real-life interaction that closes the deal \u2013 a phone call or a real-life face-to-face meeting. Social media is one way to get you to that point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t get me wrong. Job <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/toxic-executive-job-search-beliefs-hit-job-boards-hard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">boards<\/a> do hold some of the jobs you may want.
