People assume they\u2019ll be better written and verbal communicators and leaders on the job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But we all make mistakes. Prevalent typos like <em>\u201cmanger\u201d<\/em> for <em>\u201cmanager\u201d<\/em> plague all of us, and should be forgiven, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, maybe, but don\u2019t count on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-color wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#0d7b14\"><strong>Diligent proofreading for grammar and spelling errors is a must.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All of your job search content should be error-free. Before posting your <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/does-my-linkedin-profile-really-need-a-photo\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"893\">LinkedIn and other online profiles<\/a>, and sending out your resume accompanied by email messages, look them over very carefully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And don&#8217;t rely on Spell Check. The <em>&#8220;manger&#8221;<\/em> for <em>&#8220;manager&#8221;<\/em> flub will pass right through it, for instance. And pay close attention to typos in your contact info, for obvious reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be aware that grammatical errors can convey the wrong message and even make you look ridiculous. Watch for confusing misplaced modifiers and phrases that distort what you meant to say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Spelling errors can damage your&nbsp;Personal SEO.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s another thing you may not be aware of . . .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond failing the human eyeball test, these errors can keep people from finding you online by mucking up your Personal SEO, a key element in today\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/16-deadly-executive-job-search-mistakes\/\">executive job search<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/how-to-balance-personal-branding-with-personal-seo\/\">Personal SEO<\/a> (Search Engine Optimization) is all about the relevant keywords and phrases (or \u201chard\u201d skills) you possess that recruiters and hiring managers most search online to source and assess candidates like you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If these keywords are misspelled, search engines may not recognize them, making you invisible to the very people who can help you reach your career goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, I saw a LinkedIn professional headline with this phrase:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Vice President Channel and Allinaces<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Imagine what people will think of him, if the first thing visible at the top of his profile contains a glaring misspelling. Just as important, search engines may not&nbsp;interpret the word <em>&#8220;Allinaces&#8221;<\/em> to mean&nbsp;<em>\u201cAlliances&#8221;<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How well do you proofread your email messages before sending?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If your first introduction to people who can help you get a job is an email with typos and other errors, how likely do you think you&#8217;ll make it into the first round?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or, what about your ongoing email communications with recruiters, other hiring professionals, and other people involved with your <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/deftly-organize-and-track-your-executive-job-search\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"50\">job search<\/a>?
