Build up your LinkedIn profile views and make it a traffic magnet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>More LinkedIn profile views means more people are landing on your profile, and hopefully reading all about you and your good-fit qualities for the job(s) you want.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More profile views means more people potentially sending job leads your way, or otherwise helping you with your job search and career.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides being a <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/3-ways-to-make-your-online-networking-count\/\">social network<\/a>, LinkedIn is a powerful search engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People use the site to search for particular kinds of people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of LinkedIn&#8217;s revenue comes from recruiters, so they constitute the largest group of people using LinkedIn&#8217;s search engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Who are they searching for? Potential job candidates for the jobs they&#8217;re trying to fill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They search using keywords such as job titles and skills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To get more views on LinkedIn \u2013 and more potential job leads \u2013 your profile needs to be highly visible and findable to recruiters and others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And you need to keep yourself and your personal brand top-of-mind with your expanding network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>How do you do this?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By employing these two strategies:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Build content in your profile that includes <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/keywords-in-job-search-how-important-are-they\/\">the right keywords and keyword density<\/a>, and be ever-mindful of SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Your profile will sit there working PASSIVELY for you \u2013 making you more visible and findable, and drawing people to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/yikes-my-linkedin-profile-is-missing\/\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"658\">ACTIVELY use LinkedIn<\/a> to stay top-of-mind with people and draw new people to your profile and you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do keywords work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You want to help the right people \u2013 executive recruiters, your target employers and others \u2013 find you on LinkedIn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will draw them to your profile by incorporating into it the right relevant keywords and phrases they <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/executive-job-search-how-recruiters-find-you\/\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"908\">search to source candidates<\/a> like you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keywords typically represent your key areas of expertise, or \u201chard skills\u201d, such as Change Management, Product Development, Emerging Technology Launch, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And your job title is usually an <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/linkedin-keywords-get-found-online\/\">important relevant keyword phrase that people will search<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Strategically placed, the right keywords elevate your search rankings in LinkedIn\u2019s search engine, increasing your profile\u2019s SEO (<a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/how-to-balance-personal-branding-with-personal-seo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Search Engine Optimization<\/a>) and significantly boosting your profile views.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you fill your LinkedIn profile with SEO-driven content, it will sit there passively, driving people to it when they search keywords looking for people like you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Find the Right Keywords on LinkedIn<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re like many job seekers, chances are you haven&#8217;t fully built out your LinkedIn profile because you don&#8217;t realize how important it is, or you don&#8217;t know how to do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many places and ways to find the right keywords to put in your profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LinkedIn, in particular, is a goldmine of relevant keywords, based on your job title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One relatively easy way is to do a LinkedIn search on the job title you&#8217;re seeking, look at the profiles that come up, and see what keywords they use. If they apply to you, use them yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My colleague Virginia Franco wrote about some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.virginiafrancoresumes.com\/3-slightly-hidden-linkedin-tools-linkedin-writing-service\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">slightly hidden ways to use LinkedIn<\/a> to find keywords to boost LinkedIn profile views. Click on them to get a list of skills that match your profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color\"><strong>Build Out Your Profile to PASSIVELY Increase LinkedIn Profile Views<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s how to build out your profile, keeping keyword density in mind, so it will work for you passively. These steps alone will help boost your LinkedIn profile views:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. Optimize your name field<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You may not realize that, along with your actual name, you can add a total of 40 characters in the name field for your last name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The name field and your Profile Headline (#2 below) are the most important places for keyword density, because they sit at the top of the web page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>LinkedIn allows the following additions in the last name field:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Suffixes and certifications<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Former names, maiden names, and nicknames<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/help\/linkedin\/answer\/28422\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LinkedIn frowns on adding these things<\/a> in the last name field:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pseudonyms, fake names, business names, associations, groups, email addresses, or special characters that do not reflect your real or preferred professional name<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Here\u2019s an example of an acceptable, keyword-rich name extension:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>William Jones, PMP, SOX, CSM, CSSBB<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. Build a keyword-rich Profile Headline<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you haven\u2019t changed the default headline LinkedIn automatically populated for that spot \u2013 your current job title \u2013 you\u2019re not making the best use of that prime real estate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This spot is custom-made for SEO and, with the 220 characters and spaces allowed (more with Mobile), you can pack a powerful punch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use as many of the allowed characters as you can, while keeping the headline comprehensible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is not the place to put phrases like \u201cOpen to Network\u201d or \u201cSeeking Opportunities in XYZ\u201d. People are not likely to search these terms and they use up precious space for keywords. Move those to your About section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Here\u2019s an example of a keyword-rich profile headline:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Chief Data Scientist for the Fortune 500 | Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Product Development, Thought Leadership<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>And here&#8217;s the same job seeker, with his headline ramped up to include some of his personality (or personal brand):<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Chief Data Scientist for the Fortune 500 | Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Product Development, Thought Leadership | My mantra for business survival in the technology sphere: Unlearn. Transform. Reinvent.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Avoid the <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/3-big-mistakes-that-screw-up-your-linkedin-professional-headline\/\">3 big mistakes that screw up your headline<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. Personalize your LinkedIn URL<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If the URL looks something like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">linkedin.com\/in\/meg-guiseppi-2gg73k28<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Change it to this, or something similar:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/megguiseppi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">http:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/megguiseppi<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Get rid of the mess of numbers and letters at the end. This may not impact your SEO very much, but it&#8217;s a good idea to have a clean, searchable name associated with the URL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4. Pump up your job titles in the Experience section<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Along with filling out the narrative part of the Experience section with as much content as possible, you should add keywords to your job titles themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You should use the same job title on <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/what-not-to-put-in-your-c-level-executive-resume\/\">your profile that you\u2019ve used on your resume<\/a> and elsewhere, to avoid sending up red flags that you\u2019re exaggerating or misrepresenting yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But LinkedIn allows 100 characters in this field, so you can add relevant keywords to each actual job title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>For example, this job seeker\u2019s actual job title at one company is:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Senior Technical &amp; Business Project Manager<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>But she can add a few choice keywords to improve SEO:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Senior Technical &amp; Business Project Manager \u2013 Capital Markets Risk Management, MBS Disclosure<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5. Build out the About section<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The About section allows for 2,600 characters and spaces. Because it sits very high on the web page, this section is big search engine bait. This is your opportunity to build in plenty of content with relevant keywords.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another thing about the About section, think of it as a chance to tell <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/worksheets-personal-branding-and-executive-job-search\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">your personal brand story<\/a>. Using your most important keywords and phrases, <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/how-to-write-a-c-level-executive-career-brand-biography\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">create a biography<\/a> around what makes you a good fit for the employers you\u2019re targeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But don\u2019t just rely on keywords. You also want to make this, and other narrative sections, an <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/is-your-executive-resume-an-interesting-read\/\">interesting read<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/how-to-write-a-dazzling-linkedin-summary\/\">Make your About section dazzling<\/a>. Generate chemistry by giving a feel for your personality and what makes you tick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>6. Fill in the Skills section<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Add in your top skills (or areas of expertise) in order of importance. These skills represent your most important keywords and keyword phrases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to job search strategist and former recruiter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.job-hunt.org\/linkedin-keywords\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Laura Smith-Proulx<\/a>, this section: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;Has evolved into an SEO tool that can draw serious traffic, but only if it\u2019s used correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The terms you add to <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/help-linkedin-skills-endorsements-mess\/\">Skills factor more heavily in your LinkedIn<\/a> searchability when you are endorsed for them. Therefore, it makes sense to add keywords and obtain (and accept) endorsements on them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A caveat:<\/strong> ensure the terms you add in this section are really keywords. Given a choice between a \u201chard skill\u201d (such as \u201cProject Management\u201d) and a character trait (such as \u201cLeadership\u201d), employers may prefer to search for specific competencies.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>And a high number of endorsements for skills representing your best talents supports your <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/21-ways-your-executive-brand-drives-your-career\/\">personal brand<\/a> and adds credibility to your candidacy in job search. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>7. Complete the rest of your profile<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Improve your profile visibility and findability by fully populating any applicable profile sections. The more content in your profile, the more relevant keywords will likely be in your profile, and the more likely your profile will rise in searches on those keywords . . . leading more people to view your profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em><strong>LinkedIn says that users with complete profiles are 40 times more likely to receive opportunities through LinkedIn.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a number of LinkedIn profile sections you\u2019re probably neglecting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/cfo-executive-resume-employment-gap-is-volunteering-really-a-job\/\">Volunteer Experience<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Publications<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certifications<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Courses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Honors &amp; Awards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Patents<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Test Scores<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Languages<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Organizations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Projects Section<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I particularly want to call your attention to this <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/brand-yourself-in-the-5-long-linkedin-profile-sections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">narrative section<\/a>, a somewhat hidden and little-used gem, where you can add plenty of content. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll need to add a Projects section to your profile itself, before you can make use of it. Access it in the \u201cAdd profile section\u201d in the menu at the top of the page, when you\u2019re in \u201cview profile\u201d mode. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since each Project is tied to a particular job of yours in the Experience section, a project becomes a powerful way to add more content to that job if you\u2019ve used up all the space allowed for each job description in the Experience section. You essentially get double the amount of space for each entry in the Experience section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can get creative with Projects. For example, if you worked on a challenging project, write up a description of it with the details. Tell the story of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How it all came about,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The situation you walked into,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What needed to be done,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What wasn\u2019t working,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exactly what you did to fix things, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What the various outcomes were.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As with the About section, as you\u2019re adding in content to this section and making adjustments, pay close attention to what appears to viewers, without having to click on \u201csee more.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color\"><strong>ACTIVELY Draw People in To Boost LinkedIn Profile Views<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that you\u2019ve fully loaded your profile with content containing the right keywords, and you&#8217;ve highlighted your <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/ignore-the-hype-what-authentic-personal-branding-is-and-is-not\/\">personal brand<\/a>, LinkedIn will passively draw people to you, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s time to get active on the site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Build a personal brand communications plan to leverage the LinkedIn features that will keep you top-of-mind with your network, and compel new people to view your profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8 more ways to boost LinkedIn profile views by ACTIVELY using LinkedIn to stay top-of-mind with your network, and draw people to your profile:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>8. Keep expanding your LinkedIn network<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You may be concerned about accepting invitations from people you don&#8217;t actually know, or sending invitations to people you don&#8217;t know at all, or don&#8217;t know well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Here&#8217;s why <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/how-many-linkedin-connections-are-good-for-executive-job-search\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">having a lot of LinkedIn connections<\/a> is a good thing:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The more people you\u2019re connected with, the wider you\u2019ve cast your net for opportunities, the more people you\u2019re staying top-of-mind with . . . thus the more likely more good-fit opportunities will come your way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And, the more connections you have, the more people likely to share or like or <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/showcase-your-personal-brand-with-linkedin-comments\/\">comment on anything you publish on LinkedIn<\/a> \u2013 updates, posts, Pulse articles, comments, etc. This spreads the word about your <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/10-keys-to-a-memorable-personal-brand\/\">personal brand<\/a> and unique value, potentially leading more people to view your profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And, once you reach the 500+ connections mark, your profile ranks higher in search results, making you more visible and findable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>9.
