It may even turn you off to the whole concept of personal branding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t let it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We all benefit from, and need, the support of the people who surround us \u2013 friends, peers, managers, staff, employees, clients, mentors, mentees, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When we&#8217;re job hunting, we need them to provide input and help promote the unique value we offer our target employers. In other words, we need them to be brand evangelists for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Successful executive job search is all about targeted marketing \u2013 communicating your unique value to your target audience across various channels, online and off-line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Simply put, all job seekers need to think of themselves (in some regards) as a product that requires promotion to \u201csell\u201d well.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They need to know who they\u2019re selling their product to \u2013 that is, which specific employers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And they need to know why those employers need them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-color wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#0d7b14\"><strong>What Is Personal Brand Evangelism?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to digital marketing expert Neil Patel, <a aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/neilpatel\/2015\/12\/31\/what-does-a-brand-evangelist-do-and-do-you-need-one\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">What Does A Brand Evangelist Do, And Do You Need One?<\/a>, brand evangelism is much more than a gimmick, and it&#8217;s one of the oldest forms of marketing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em><strong>\u201cA brand evangelist is a person who believes in your product or service so fervently that he or she aggressively promotes it to others.<\/strong><\/em><\/p><p><em><strong>Customers buy things. Brand evangelists preach about the things that they have bought.<\/strong><\/em><\/p><p><em><strong>A brand evangelist is a true fan, someone who wants to talk about and share your message and get involved in any way they can.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Brand evangelism comes about when you <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/how-to-network-into-the-goldmine-of-hidden-executive-jobs\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">network well<\/a>. Stay top-of-mind with your networks. Practice &#8220;give to get&#8221; networking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That is, do things for your network without being asked. They&#8217;ll be much more likely and willing to reciprocate, and support you when you need it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Personal brand evangelism can come from all corners, and sometimes when you least expect it.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>And sometimes, you reach out to someone to do you a favor that will support and promote your brand, and they come through in a way that exceeds your expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>A client of mine was such a person.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A CMO for big global brands, Andrew was truly a dream client. He &#8220;got&#8221; what my personal branding and <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/worksheets-personal-branding-and-executive-job-search\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">content writing process<\/a> was all about. And, he understood the value, right from the start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He knew that, although he would have to invest a fair amount of time doing the work, the payoff would be well worth his efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He trusted that I knew what I was doing, and that if he did his part well, he could leave the rest in my hands and I would do my part well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a crowded space, we differentiated his unique value and great-fit qualities over fierce competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As with all my clients, I asked him to write a LinkedIn recommendation for me. He was thrilled with the content I wrote for him, for his resume and LinkedIn profile, and was happy to do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What he wrote was way beyond the good things most clients have to say about our work together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And he took his recommendation beyond the norm. Along with writing the LinkedIn recommendation, he posted the glowing endorsement as a LinkedIn Pulse article, that was seen, and shared, by many more people than the recommendation alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By the way, our hard work paid off.
