They could be at least somewhat interested in you, unless they happened onto your profile by mistake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond recruiters and other hiring professionals, they could be people who work at or are associated with the <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/7-tips-to-build-your-executive-job-search-target-companies-list\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"763\">companies in your target list<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So these are hot leads . . . people who may be sitting on the very kinds of opportunities you\u2019re seeking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These hot leads should be followed up with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have you ever accessed this goldmine-of-possibilities metric in your LinkedIn dashboard, and taken the next obvious step \u2013 reaching out to at least some of them?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to access the people who viewed your profile, you&#8217;ll need to upgrade your <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/do-executive-job-seekers-need-linkedin-premium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LinkedIn account to Premium<\/a>. You can try Premium for free for a month, and then decide whether to continue with it and pay the monthly fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an article on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/3061199\/exactly-what-to-do-after-someone-visits-your-linkedin-profile\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fast Company<\/a>, professional blogger Kat Boogaard suggests one way to use &#8220;Who viewed your profile&#8221; when you&#8217;re in job search:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When a hiring manager at a company where you applied for a job, or where you want to work, views your profile, take it as a good sign that they&#8217;re interested. But just wait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em><strong>&#8220;Don\u2019t let your excitement tempt you into immediately sending an overly eager (read: pesky) message and connection request. Instead, accept that this was likely just another step in the hiring process. If you haven\u2019t heard anything about the job or hiring timeline in a couple of weeks? Well, at least you have the name of someone you can personally follow up with \u2013 rather than using that generic jobs@company.com email address.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Spend a little time investigating the profiles of the various people viewing your profile. See if any of them work at your target companies. If so, reach out to them with an invitation to connect and a brief personalized message. Don&#8217;t just send the default invitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span style=\"color:#0d7b14\" class=\"has-inline-color\">How Do You Connect with People You Don&#8217;t Know Who Viewed Your Profile . . . <em>and Get Action<\/em>?<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on the excellent suggestions in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/dailymuse\/2013\/10\/15\/how-to-write-linkedin-messages-that-actually-get-read\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Forbes article<\/a>, here&#8217;s how to craft a LinkedIn invitation with a stranger in 3 short paragraphs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Be specific in your subject line about why you&#8217;re reaching out to them.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Bad options are \u201cHello\u201d or \u201cHelp\u201d or leaving the subject line blank, which happens more than you might realize. Something like one of these is better:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cInterested in XYZ Job posted on Company Website\u201d<br>\u201cInterested in [their company name] new product rollout\u201d<br>\u201cFellow PMP interested in Your Take on XYZ\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Paragraph 1 \u2013 Start the message by telling them who you are.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Tell them what you do. Don\u2019t assume that people will automatically jump to your profile to find out about you. Make it easy and quick for them. Include any names of mutual contact(s) or mutual LI Groups, tell them if you\u2019ve worked for the same company, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It may read something like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve been the VP of Marketing at [your company name] in [location] for the past [number of years].\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Paragraph 2 \u2013 Quickly get to why you\u2019re writing.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If they work at a company on your target list, your second paragraph may read something like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m reaching out to you for some expert advice. I\u2019m beginning a <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/linkedin-faqs-for-executive-job-search\/\">job search<\/a> in the XYZ sector, and feel my expertise will greatly benefit [their company name]. I have a few quick questions regarding [advice you need].\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re writing to merely connect with them, don&#8217;t just say \u201cI\u2019d like to connect with you\u201d. Instead, tell them why it would benefit them to connect with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Paragraph 3 \u2013 Wrap it up briefly.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Close briefly, say thank you, and add your name, tagline (if you have one), and your contact info.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your third and final paragraph is where you add a call-to-action, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWould you have a few moments in the near future to [whatever your request is]? Thank you for your time. I appreciate your consideration and hope you\u2019ll also connect with me on LinkedIn.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, it should go without saying that you should proofread your message carefully for errors. Don\u2019t use texting shortcuts or other abbreviations. Compose the message in a Word document so you can use Spell Check, then re-read it again yourself for errors before sending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Bottom Line<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Make it a habit to regularly review the people who have viewed your LinkedIn profile. Take some time to reach out to the warm and hot leads within that mix of people.
