You&#8217;ve used the worksheets and now you know what <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/21-ways-your-executive-brand-drives-your-career\/\">your personal brand<\/a> is all about. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ve written brand-reinforcing content (for <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/what-not-to-put-in-your-c-level-executive-resume\/\">your resume<\/a>, LinkedIn profile and other career materials) to support your good-fit candidacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What\u2019s next? What are you going to do with all that great information and content you or someone else has written?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How will you get the word out about your brand and the value you offer?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re smart, you\u2019re going to get busy (or busier) on <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/10-years-on-linkedin-why-its-still-indispensable-to-me\/\">LinkedIn<\/a>. You\u2019ll take advantage of at least some of the many brand-building things this most important <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/executive-job-search-networking-lessons-from-expert-connectors-and-relationship-builders\/\">job search networking<\/a> site has to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5 Reasons Your Personal Brand Loves LinkedIn<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1.  Using LinkedIn shows that you\u2019re social media savvy and up to date with the digital age.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Think about recruiters and other hiring professionals viewing <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/how-to-get-your-personal-brand-into-your-linkedin-profile\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"150\">your LinkedIn profile<\/a> to assess you as a candidate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have little to no presence on LinkedIn, or an anemic profile that doesn\u2019t position you well, you may come off as out of touch. They will probably skip right over you and move on to someone whose profile and presence are robust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They tend to favor <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/how-to-connect-on-linkedin-with-people-you-dont-know-and-get-action\/\">people who DO know how to use LinkedIn<\/a>, by creating a robust profile, keeping it updated and regularly using the various features LinkedIn offers. LinkedIn makes you and your personal brand more findable online.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/strong-online-presence-to-compete\/\">Job seekers with a stronger online presence<\/a> are typically deemed more desirable candidates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You need to build diverse information online about you, your brand, and your good-fit qualifications. This helps you stand out to <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/secrets-executive-recruiters-cant-tell-you-and-tips-for-working-with-them\/\">executive recruiters and other hiring<\/a> professionals who are sourcing and assessing candidates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A strong LinkedIn profile will likely land on page one of Google search results for \u201cyour name\u201d. That\u2019s powerful stuff . . . a solid search result on the first page!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also important, your <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/does-my-linkedin-profile-really-need-a-photo\/\">LinkedIn profile<\/a> provides critical \u201csocial proof\u201d corroborating the claims you\u2019ve made about yourself in your other career materials (resume, biography, cover letter, other online profiles and web pages).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.  LinkedIn helps you identify people to connect and network with.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Networking has always been the best way to land a good-fit job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you\u2019re in <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/top-10-executive-job-search-posts-from-2015\/\">job search<\/a> mode, you need to re-engage your existing network, if you\u2019ve ignored them while you were happily employed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You need to let all kinds of people <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/10-things-you-may-not-know-about-personal-branding\/\">know about your personal brand<\/a> and the value you offer your target employers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bigger your network, the greater potential for more job leads to come your way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among others, you need to expand your network to include people employed at your target employers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why? Because a high percentage of people land jobs through <a aria-label=\"employee referrals (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/networking-to-referral-to-hire-best-way-to-land-executive-job\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">employee referrals<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By connecting and networking with these people, you greatly increase the chances that they will recommend you internally. They are typically rewarded for bringing in a new good hire. You are rewarded with a good-fit job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With close to one billion users (at this writing), chances are a good number of the people you need to network with are already proactively <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/how-not-to-build-your-executive-network\/\">networking on LinkedIn<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Find these people by looking at the LinkedIn company profiles of your target employers. LinkedIn helps you communicate your brand messaging and demonstrate your subject matter expertise.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As you\u2019re <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/how-not-to-build-your-executive-network\/\">building your network on LinkedIn<\/a>, you want to get the word out about the value you offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/3-surprising-ways-linkedin-hurts-your-personal-brand\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"452\">LinkedIn to broadcast what your brand<\/a> is all about, zeroing in on your areas of expertise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are two powerful ways to <a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/keep-your-personal-brand-top-of-mind-with-linkedin-updates\/\">keep your brand top-of-mind with your network<\/a>, while building out your network even more:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u25cf Get into the habit of regularly posting updates in your LinkedIn stream.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When you or your company has a major achievement, post it as an update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you read a good article somewhere online that is relevant to your industry and\/or areas of expertise, share it on LinkedIn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you see an interesting LinkedIn update by someone else, share it in your stream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As you consider things to post, opt for things that will be of interest to your network, and will add value and be helpful to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Read all about posting updates in <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Smart Personal Branding: Posting LinkedIn Updates vs Updating Your LinkedIn Profile (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/smart-personal-branding-posting-linkedin-updates-vs-updating-your-linkedin-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\">Smart Personal Branding: Posting LinkedIn Updates vs Updating Your LinkedIn Profile<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u25cf Post articles on LinkedIn\u2019s blogging platform.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/c-level-job-search-blogging-what-am-i-going-to-write-about\/\">Blogging is one of the best ways to demonstrate your thought leadership<\/a> and knowledge base. Once again, LinkedIn has you covered with its own blogging platform that all members can use. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes called Pulse, you can upload new articles, or white papers and articles you\u2019ve posted elsewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The idea is to publish content about the things you know best, representing the areas of expertise that your target employers will be looking for in candidates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You don\u2019t need to write volumes for each article. LinkedIn gives you tools to build brand evangelism.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/executivecareerbrand.com\/12-ways-to-build-personal-brand-evangelism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Brand evangelists (opens in a new tab)\">Brand evangelists<\/a> are people who understand your value-offer, and spread the word about you online (via social media) and in real-life situations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Building brand evangelism works hand-in-hand with #4 above. Take my suggestions in that tip a little further. Tag people and use hashtags in your LinkedIn updates, shares, articles, comments and reactions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This sets you up for reciprocity.
